Confused about somethnig.....

Do not read any further unless you have seen the movie

Ok, saw the movie today. Pretty good, but when exactly did he switch the money in the briefcase?? I don't recall seeing him do this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

They never showed it. If they did, then you would have known the money wasn't in the briefcase when Alex asked about it and opened it at the end after Alex shot Anne, which would have killed any bit of suspense they were trying to work up through that scene.
