I probably missed something but there was something about the plot I did't get.
Since Anne and Chris could not anticipate getting the drug money from the chief, they must have planned to get the insurance money. But why did Anne name chief Matlock to be the new beneficiary before he gave her the money?

If the whole thing was about the drug money, it seems a long shot to count on the chief giving it away just like that.

The plan was to kill Whitlock.. so now the question is: who gets the money if the beneficiary dies?

Errr...I watched it last night and thought the main idea WAS to get the drug money.
The insurance money scam was to help frame Matlock re:Motive.

As Anne and Chris were childhood sweethearts, I guess she knew he was a good man and/or sucker and would offer her the money to save her from the cancer?

Loved the scenery!
