Why Eddie Cibrian left the show?
I liked his character a lot :(
shareHe was fired. His character was liked but the actor had a lot working against him.
Early into the season, or right before episodes started to air, his affair with Leanne Rymes came to light and he was getting bashed left and right and CSI:Miami publicity was taking a hit with it. The bad publicity from that was not something the producers/network wanted. There were also rumors from the set that he was not nice to be around on set, didn't talk to the other actors, didn't work well with the crew, was a "demanding" actor, wanted to get more a "important" story line - more than the other actors who'd been on the show got. From what one of the producers had said when he was "released from his contract", his character was supposed to survive the gas attack, but they used it as their way to eliminate the character, with no possibility of return.
Bobby: "You don't shoot Bambi, jacka$$. You shoot Bambi's mother."

You hit the nail on the head about Caruso. His demanding for self importance led to unbelievable story lines that any amateur could pick out. If he could have got away with them writing a script where the Earth was invaded by aliens and he saves the world, he would have done it. The only thing holding that back was budget restraints.
