In the S3 finale, Hagan dies and Calleigh removes her name from the duty board. In the S4 opener, H welcomes back Eric, Calleigh is present and working, the lab is completely rebuilt (which they comment on), and new characters either introduce themselves or are treated like they've always been there. It seems at least one if not more episodes in between are missing! I'm quite confused. Can anyone help me with this?
shareIt was a minor time jump, a few weeks to maybe 3 months. Not the first show to do a jump where they just "move" the timeline along with the summer break (ie end the 3 season in "month v" and open season 4 in "month z"). Eric could have gone on vacation and just gotten back. Caleigh could have taken a few days / couple weeks off and could have been back at work for a couple weeks, new people could have started working and were in the regular swing of things by the time the season picked up.

As far as I remember they introduced Boa Vista as heading the "unsolveds" lab for which she got a federal grant.
As far as Calleigh, she quit firearms and there was another guy heading that lab. She wasn't too pleased with his work/attitude and went back to firearms after a while.
