This trend started a few years ago when contestants are asked to leave early instead of waiting for the rose ceremony. Last night it happened with Dominique-last week with Liz-and the Liz thing was more understandable-but still- why not just wait until the rose ceremony? These early departures are awkward.
Well Dominique did it to herself. She had the same opportunity as everyone else for time yet she chose to tell him in the only time they had together that he wasn't giving her enough time knowing damn well he has 25 women to go though every other day. Could have been a chance to finally get the quality 1 on 1 time but she just wanted to complain to him. It was the right move then to let her go as she clearly wasn't going to be any happier about the situation and risking keeping her over someone who actually wanted to be there isnt fair to the other girls. No use wasting time keeping her around.

I can see both sides to this. Dominique only got ONE group date, and she was last one that date card lol. She felt like an afterthought, like she was literally "last on his list."
However, instead of using her time with him to flirt or act interested, she became confrontational. No guy is going to respond well to the crazy chick who goes off on him when he doesn't even know her that well. I could imagine him thinking, "Wait, I don't need to put up with this *beep* I feel bad for her though, he abruptly sent her home and I could tell she felt mistreated. He was probably attracted to her the first night (she's one of the prettier of those types) but it just didn't go anywhere. I can definitely see both sides to this problem.

I wish I could remember which bach/ette started this trend, because there was a particular one who came on as a former contestant (like somewhere in the Jillian Harris or Jason Mesnick era maybe..? Emily Maynard? IDK) and was really determined to not waste anyone's time or lead on the contestants unnecessarily. Up until that point, pretty much everyone got dumped at a rose ceremony no matter what, but this person pioneered the sudden exit strategy.
I actually like it when they send people home as early departures. Obviously you can't do it all the time or rose ceremonies would become obsolete, but I think the two women who have left like that this season are the perfect examples of why it works. Both times that Liz and Nick really discussed THAT THING THAT HAPPENED 9 MONTHS AGO AT JADE AND TANNER'S WEDDING, it was awkward and confrontational. When Dominique had one-on-one time with Nick this week, she went into it trying to confront him as if he had mistreated her. In both scenarios, the women were requiring Nick to reassure them ; they wanted him to say that it was okay and that they still had a real shot with him... but if he couldn't sincerely say that they had a chance, then he'd be lying and stringing them along to a rose ceremony, just to go back on his word and cast them off anyway. So if the contestant is going in swinging like that, they're sort of gambling in my opinion. Liz didn't have much of an option, but Dominique forced her own exit with that little meltdown. I think he did the right thing both times.
Yes I agree. I think a less experienced, more naïve lead like Ben last season would probably have kept Dom around longer for no other reason than to fill a spot, but Nick realised it was best to be honest when confronted, he just wasn't into her and thus decided to let her go.
