Backstreet Boys

Damn they sounded horrible. But some of those females are full of sh!t. More fans of Miley Cyrus and Jonas Brothers than Backstreet Boys. Half weren't even old enough to really appreciate them when they were at their highest. Loved watching some of them sing "I want it that way" clearly not knowing the lyrics.

At their height, the Backstreet Boys were popular then Miley or the Jonas Brothers. Not anymore obviously but back in 1999 their height was bigger.

reply

I never indicated otherwise. I was just saying due to some of the girls ages they were more likely to be fans of Miley or the Jonas brothers than BSB

Huh? Most of their fans are now in their 20's and 30's...

reply

Speaking specifically about the females under 25.

I'm 20 and I was 4 around their heyday. All of the girls are older than me, so they would have been more likely to like the backstreet boys and would have been too old when the Jonas Brothers came around. Heck, I was borderline too old when the Jonas Brothers came.

reply

No you were not. BSB's heyday was 97-99 you were at most 2. And the younger girls would have been about 4 or 5.

People still listened to them. I knew all of their hit songs. I had their albums. You keep making huge generalizations about people that are completly unfounded. If I'm younger than them and still heard their stuff often, its incredibly likely that they could have too. Especially since everyone at my college knows the same songs that were played tonight. At one of our dances a group of kids even did the choreography for Everybody. And they were at most 21.

reply

Good point. One of the girls said "12 year old me is freaking out." But I glanced at her age and did quick math. She would have been 6 years old at the oldest. She might have known who they were, but she was NOT a middle school fan girl.

reply

And you know what music the contestants were listening to when they were younger? If someone had an older sibling they're going to be exposed to music the average kid wouldn't listen to.

reply

It's believable for the ones who are in their late 20s and early 30s. I'm 32, and my friends and I all LOVED the Backstreet Boys, N'SYNC, 98 Degrees, etc. in the 8th and 9th grades. That was around 1999 when boy bands were the big thing.

reply

anytime i see old boy bands i cringe but to see them on the bachelor...lmao
they really did sound like *beep*

reply

No I can believe that these girls were fans of them. What I'm finding harder to believe is Nick's people blog where HE's claiming he was a big fan of them in high school when he was 16/17!!

reply

[deleted]

I was considerably older than Nick in 1999 and was still a fan (of their music, they are all too young for me personally!)

You are female or a gay male though. We are talking about straight men here. Huge difference.

I LOVE Incubus. Saw them in concert in 2011 for the first time. Was never into pop music much, if at all. But I can see where most of these girls would be.
