For viewers from the beginning, how much has the show changed?

My first season was Jason Mesnick's then started watching from there. Maybe because it was my first season watching I thought it seamed more real especially since he had a son. I just watched the first episode of Jason's season again. One big thing I noticed the women's ages are all mid to high 20s, no 22-23 year olds.

Just curious for viewers since the beginning how much has changed.

I didn't start regularly watching until Jesse Palmer's season, but I did see a few episodes of the very first seasons. As I remember it, the Bachelor and women were all a lot older. They weren't a bunch of 23 year old attention whores looking to become famous. Many of the women actually chose not to remain in the public eye after their time on the show. Being the lead was more about being rich than being hot. The show was much tamer. I don't remember the dates being as gimmicky (women competing in embarrassing obstacle courses or dance offs for time with The Bachelor). Everyone wasn't wasted 24/7, or if they were, that wasn't something the show really focused on.

I do remember on Trista's season I think at the 'men tell all' they did show all the guys getting very drunk. But you are right that it wasn't highlightened for drama but merely as a funny outtake at the time. The people were definitely older on average, although Amanda who Alex chose was only 23 (but seemed a lot older than the mid 20s girls of today!)

I did feel a little sorry for the guys on kaitlyn's season in particular. Some of them had to sumo semi nude, perform a comedy routine and sing some serenaded song all in public.

You don't think you they gear the women's ages and races by the bachelor's preference? I always imagined the hero filled out a survey to get at least some compatible contestants. If I had a kid I'd want someone older and more responsible to bring into our lives.

reply

Races possibly yes. Age wise, no or at least not in recent years. You really think Nick said to them 'Can you make sure most of them are nearly 10 years younger than me and no one older than 31?' Is he THAT much of a douche to suggest that? I don't think so.

reply

I think he has only begun to douche. I don't think men and women who are the same age match up all that much anyway. Woman mature faster usually so a good 5-7 years difference I think is good. 10 might be getting on the far side of that number, but who knows with Nick. He seems to be driven by his loins.

been here since season 1. The show has more and more fake people every season. women and men who want to use the show as a platform for fame. The first season didnt have that. it was genuine people actually wanting to meet a hot rich bachelor that was the premise that the Bachelor was actually a catch and not some manwhore with a receeding hairline that makes 30k.

Just curious from your post. I did say I didn't watch earlier seasons so don't know. In my opinion I would think the women would be more fake trying to get a rich bachelor who makes 6 figures.

I know now from watching seasons that a lot of women are fake but don't understand what would be their reason seeing a lot of the guys are just average Joe's.

Not arguing/trolling with you or anything just thinking out loud.
