The 3 he let go all looked alike

All long, dirty blond hair, pale skinned, thin nosed, boney framed, tall gals. Guess not his type.

He does seem to like shorter girls with dark hair. Andi, Kaitlyn, Rachel, Vanessa all fit this profile. Amanda kind of does too.

reply

His type is more Clay Aiken... trust me.

This is why so many relationships fail. People are so obsessed with their "type." He may (emphasis on "may" because we don't really know his reasons) have sent home an amazing girl because of something completely superficial. All of the women on the show are attractive and deserve a genuine chance. You can actually expand what you are attracted to over time with minimal effort. You'll have a better chance at finding something real if you do. All of my single friends are so picky! Give a short guy a chance or ask out the chubby girl in your office! Why so obsessed about hair color? People prioritize attraction over much more important qualities and wonder why their relationships fail. Everyone is so worried about what other people think, as well. It's important that their "friends" and family think he/she is hot. So glad I am out of the dating world.

I read a book once that said every 15th person of the opposite sex you met is someone who is a good match based on personality type.

reply

Well that depends on your personality type. If you have a rare personality type, probably not.

Men are visual creatures. This is something most women just don't understand ...because they're not men. No matter how much we like your personality if we don't find you attractive initially this is NEVER going to change.

its MOSTLY true for men, but I've known too many straight ridiculously good looking guys who ended up dating or marrying average looking women who stroke the guy's ego to death. That really does work for some guys.

Do you live in LA or something? How many people over 40 are really ridiculously good looking? Not many where I live that's for sure.

I live in Manhattan and frequent LA. There are so many absurdly good looking people (moreso actually in Manhattan IMO.)

However, why 'over 40'? Nick is 36. And the guys I speak of are anywhere from 21-40+.

Personally, I've met many men that started at a 6 and jumped to an 8 after great conversation and chemistry. Smart and funny men are sexy. My friends used to laugh at the guys I crushed on. Sure, I liked hot guys too but was often unsatisfied with most aspects of the relationship. I'm trying to raise my boys not to focus too much on looks, we'll see how well that goes. Lol.

A bitter reality I accepted. Thank God I was able to accept it sooner rather than later.

That said, Nick is clearly into brunettes. To this day, he still blushes around Andi (thinking about the Jimmy Kimmel episode last month. If she would have had him, they would still be together). Corrine is around because she's the season villain. And perhaps he'll hit it (since she's there). But that's about it.

reply

i think corrine is still very much his physical type because she is obviously not a natural blonde. her skin undertones are naturally olive as opposed to pink or peach and she has dark chocolate eyes. he keeps talking about how attractive she is to him, so while i agree that blondes don't seem to be his thing, i'm not sure if it doesn't have more to do with other physical features that just happen to be more common with blonde hair.

Good point. She's Greek by heritage and a lot of her family members are quite olive or dark. So that does fit into his general type.

Yes sometimes you just have to accept it. It was hard for me to accept that women would always favour a guy who had better social conversation skills than me, even if he was a complete d bag, than me when I was younger.

You're right. Most women, even subconsciously, will go for the charismatic alpha male. Even if he's a complete prick. You just have to know how to play your cards.

I guess what I was trying to say is that as a woman, I had to accept the bitter reality that my personality didn't matter as much as I wished it did. Ha! Men are visual. Most guys would think I'm pretty in an exotic way, but I was delusional to think my personality mattered as much as I wanted (at least at first). It didn't. That's just the bitter truth. Men are visual. Women are more mental (i.e. attracted to charisma, charm, and later on, money).

reply

The 'most guys would think I'm pretty in an exotic kind of way' line intrigues me a little here. Sounds like you are competing for some pretty 'high level' guys by the sound of it!

I do think there is a small percentage of men who aren't as visual. Of all the ones I know though, none of them happen to be charismatic alpha males, or even alpha males to be honest. They are who they are, and they aren't going to change just to try and 'play the game' which I like as a friend to a couple of them.

I don't actually think THAT many women are attracted to money. Or put it this way, they are attracted mainly because the guy has charisma and charm. Which may or may not be to do with the fact that he has money, or not. Of course there are some exceptions (hello Anna Nicole Smith).

Just as the danger for men is seeing a beautiful women as somehow always better to date/marry than a more average looking one who has much better compatiability with them, the danger for women is that the charming alpha male often isn't always as he seems. Now he can be exactly who he presents himself as, but he can also often be a serial cheater, someone who takes advantage of people, or worse.

reply

Hmm, I think women are visual creatures too. Ain't no woman gonna fall for a dude if she finds him to be an uggo.
