Colin's explaining himself now :) If his mind truly were made up, I don't think he'd have quite so much to say.

For anyone that wrote him (and anyone that didn't), keep up the pressure. Here are his contact details again.

Let him know that volunteer moderation works, and that, when given the chance, communities can be very effective at self policing.

Don't let the trolls win.

They made this decision months ago and fully expected pushback.

I think they are shooting themselves in the foot with this one. The first thing I do with imdb is check message boards on movies and shows. Without the boards, I have no reason to visit. I'll just use Wikipedia if I just needed trivia. Goodbye imdb !

They might as well close down the whole IMDb site. Without the boards it's nothing. All info can be found elsewhere.

Why can't they charge an annual fee ($10 or something) to continue to post at all message boards. Or include Ads to pay the bill?

Like everyone else, I always checked the message boards after seeing a movie or whatever.

I'll use Wikipedia, too - and TV.com. The heck with this mess. Big mistake, IMHO.

big mistake indeed!

wtf are they thinking?? that more people are hurt by stupid trolls and threads, than come here for fun updates and analysis on silly shows?

makes me sad :(

I always read threads on movies I just saw. It's so fun to see other people's perspectives and sometimes have your own questions answered. There are so many insights to be found too.
