just going to state this now

seriously, i freakin' loved this movie and i'm so sick of people trashing it. It was no worse than "How the Grinch Stole Christmas", as a matter of fact, i liked this much better. I think it was a genuinly funny movie, i laugh my ass off whenever i watch it. and to everyone who keeps saying that it "ruins the books" or "Is an abomination to seuss" seriously, get over it. As someone who lived off the books for the first 10 or 12 years of her life, i can say that i feel they did the book justice. Mike Meyers was exactly what you'd think the cat would be, mischevious yet fun, a little diabolical, but overall very caring. Thing one and Thing two were brilliant and the goldfish was too. honestly, i think that it was a great portrayel of the book and for kids who didn't really grow up in the seuss generation, i think it was a wonderful way to make kids interested. My little cousins actually saw this movie never having heard of any of Seuss's books, and after they found out it was based on a book, they began reading as much Seuss as they could get their hands on. So seriously, i think this movie needs to be seen as it's own individual work of art, not just a harsh comparison to the books. it's a modern adaptation and needs to be viewed as such.

I don't think it was loyal to the book buuut... I liked it a lot.

I think the art direction was wonderful. Such vibrant, surreal colors, costumes and landscapes!

And it was a witty, funny romp.

It isn't the book and people forget that. They expect this to be a perfect realization of the book. In that regard, it would fall down.

But as a movie it's fun and popping with eye candy and I like it!
