'Say-uss' or 'Soos'

i know, this is kinda random, but i was just wondering whether anyone knew the correct pronunciation of Dr. Seuss... is it "say-uss" or "soos" or something completely different?

btw, this movie was disgraceful... and no-one can use the excuse that it was made for kids, because it certainly wasn't age-appropriate (who puts paris hilton, austin powers, double entendres and sexual innuendo in a kids film?)

pitiful...

The German pronunciation (he was descended from German immigrants) actually would be "soice" - as in rhyming with "voice". However, it's almost universally pronounced in English as "Soos" - as in rhyming with "juice".

good call. my last name has a different first letter than seuss, but the pronunciation of the vowels, in german and english, are the same as you described.

God, I actually thought at first I had found a discussion here that wasn't involving complaining.
