I never realized Ted Levine was so young

Seems like he's always looked a lot older than his age. For instance, he is only 9 years older than Natalie (Traylor Howard), but in the series they look to be different generations to me.

Yeah, looks like it, and in the beginning it's especially bad.

It keeps shifting on his head throughout the series.

yup. He's only 37-38 in HEAT and looks way older.
