New reboot coming!

I was reading the graphic novel last week and thought how a reboot might be good, considering it's been twelve years already since the first big screen movie was released. In that movie, the only aspects of it that I loved was the casting of Quartermain and Captain Nemo, but much of the movie was just so so. Not overly bad (Sometimes it was), but just average.

With this news, I hope the studio can pull together a better product this time!

I wasn't into the collective thing. But some of the individual characters featured, I did like: The Invisible Man (any literation of this guy, needs a film), Dorian Grey, Nemo and Vampire Lady.

Saying that, the first one wasn't bad and had potential. So, I don't mind seeing another attempt.

We already have a great substitute called - Penny Dreadful.

Penny Dreadful is a start of a literature crossover, but there is also Once Upon a Time, which in four seasons already has more stories worked into it then this movie had, which was an impressive number back then.

I say bring on as many different crossovers as possible. It's somewhat okay when dealing with older public domain stories, but if any of these keep going for that long it's going to be a lot more interesting when they have to see what an individual company has to work with.

Just what the world needs, another unwanted remake.

I'm game, as long as they don't on purpose make it more like the comic book. This is a chance to show up the two current tv shows doing lit crossover. Time to make a stand and get something big and exciting going on screen.

If this reboot wants to do that, it needs to learn lessons from the hate rallied at Alan Moore's original comic and this first movie. This could be a huge film franchise as long as they get a good combination of character's going, a fun mission plot and a good amount of weaving in references to tap into the crossover audience.

Anything less of that, is going to not live up to expectations, period.

I am game for a reboot. I was thrilled when I saw the previews for the original movie. I had never read the graphic novel, but I had read all the source material of each character (yes, back in the old days, we actually read books with words only).

The LOXG was great until they assembled the team and then it went downhill. The remake needs to TRY to stick to some sense of realism. I know its a fantasy, but the lack of logic and basic understanding of the laws of gravity/physics and a complete disregard for the origins of the literary characters doomed that movie. The new one needs to be a bit like the Avengers, but with an old world feel to it. There are so many literary characters that franchise potential is unlimited. But, gee jumpin' jeehozaphat, stick to some semblance of reality. A car chase in Venice? A submarine navigating the canals? A car that turns its first time driver into a NASCAR veteran? No one in the production committee meetings thought these were bad ideas? NO ONE affiliated with the previous version needs to be allowed in the same state as the making of the reboot.

Sadly, the perfect actress to play Mina Harker in a remake is Eva Green, but she's kind of already doing something similar on Penny Dreadful.

My memory foam pillow says it can't remember my face. I can tell its lying.

Personally I hope some of those Moore choices are adapted out of the reboot.

I liked the steampunk aspect of this, but the script was awful. I hope they can keep the great look and get a decent storyline!

I really like this film, and wish there had been sequels. However that won't happen. If a reboot is the closest I can get, I'll take it.

They just mentioned this on Collider Heroes and apparently it is happening. Even though I must admit that Penny Dreadful is a pretty awesome series and this new season opened pretty wickedly!

Penny Dreadful has a good showing but at the same time hasn't really jumped too far into being a literature crossover. There's a good deal of original characters in that show. Which is partially what helps make it all the more interesting.

The remake really should not be afraid to go bigger in that respect. Just counting public domain they have a lot they could work with if they choose to.

One of the worst decisions this remake can make would be building a canvas that bores the part of the audience that right now can also just watch Penny Dreadful and Once Upon a Time on tv.
