Weisz smoking in this movie--good or bad?
I'm just curious...
What are people's feelings on this, if any? You like it or hate it?

Makes her character seem dangerous sexy and stylish.
shareThat's kind of what I was wondering... if people thought it was:
1. Insignificant,
2. "A bad habit, nasty, unbecoming," or
3. "Sexy, appropriate for the role."
A couple of years ago, there was such an uproar about smoking in movies that I was curious how regular movie-goers like myself felt.
Thanks for the responses, guys!

i thought it was hot
shareI haven't seen the movie yet; I just wanted to comment on your "A couple of years ago, there was such an uproar about smoking in movies that I was curious how regular movie-goers like myself felt.
Your wording made me grin. You did have an opinion before posting, correct? ;)
I haven't seen the movie yet, but I don't really care if she smokes or not. People getting pissed off about people smoking in movies is really stupid at times. I do see how it may be bad for small kids to see their favorite stars lighting up, but this movie is R. They shouldn't be seeing the movie anyway. We are all old enough to know how think for ourselves. Honestly, when I see a movie and someone is smoking it doesn't bother me until the camera follows the cigerette more than the story. It shouldn't matter if she smokes or not. Plus she is hot, so should let her get away with it anyway.
sharePeople smoke in life! So why shouldnt they in movies?
shareI liked the part were they r all smoking and looking for the right mark . Smoking adds a flair to alot of movies and some movie r better for it at least thats what I think. Smoking in general I don't like it to much of cancer risk. Cancer is horrible in any form.
A ringing phone has to be answered doesn't it?
i think just about anything with her is hot. especially when they are conning the bank vp and she is eating. damn!
shareThe "bad people lighting up just as they are about to say something cool" scenes are tired old devices that were popular in the film noir days of the 40's. Nowadays, *yawn* it doesn't hurt nor help..
shareI think the smoking really fit the character type. It also definitely fit with the sexy and hip feeling of the film. So, good or bad health-wise, it was certainly a fitting choice for this film.

it totally depends on the person smoking, dont you think? Both Rachel and also Helen Bonham Carter have a way of smoking and making it look so damn cool! They are made to smoke on camera. It makes them look sexy but then you get others who smoke and it makes them look like trailer trash!
shareWe all know that smoking is an unhealthy habit, but as mentioned above people in real life do smoke. So, so what if Rachel Weisz smokes, she's a rough prostitute.
Good point about HB Carter.
Weisz in the movie at all-Very good!
filthy though smoking undoubtedly is, she makes it look good. And people say it looks cool for a reason.
