[Morpheus]I know exactly what you mean.[/Morpheus]
I don't think Rachel Weisz is quite as good an actress as HBC. More attractive though!!
Speck for yourself. Rachel Weisz in my opinion could run rings around Helena Bonham Carter. Rachel is a proven versatile actor who could play different roles while Helenna stays in the same characters in all her films.
shareNothing against Helena Bonham Carter but she does not have Rachel Weisz’s range as an actress.

not to be mean, but have you ever seen anything with helena in it? nothing against weisz, shes great and all, but seriously. i mean, most people do not consider her roles in fight club and mighty aphrodite to be similar at all, let alone any of the multiple movies shes won awards for. rachel weisz, on the other hand, always plays the weak girl, who turns out to be strong in the end, and a love interest. think confidence, the mummy, about a boy, etc. etc . and i only said they LOOKED and SOUNDED similar, i didnt mention anything about their acting.

To getgoingtim,
Helena has been in a wide range of movies. Two that I can think of at the moment that are quite opposite to eachother are "Twelfth Night" & "Novocaine".

daizmay, if you are going to judge Rachel’s acting ability, make sure you know what you are talking about before opening your mouth about something you clearly don’t know about. The characters she plays in Confidence, The Mummy, and About A Boy have nothing to do with each other. Not only are they different characters in every way but they don’t act the same. The character in Confidence is tough as nails, while the character in the Mummy is a geek librarian( who is a much differenet in The Mummy Returns in person and mannerism )and the character in About A Boy was a single mother. I don’t know where you get the whole “always plays the weak girl, who turns out to be strong in the end, and a love interest” bit because the only character she played who was liked that was in the movie Beautiful Creatures, which was another character that nothing to do with all the characters she had played before or since. If you are going to attack Rachel for being a love interest, then attack almost every actress who is working in Hollywood because almost every womans role avalible is being a love interest to some one. Rachel also won awards for her acting, so spare me the whole Helen thing.
If you are going to bash some one, get your facts strait before you open your mouth because it seems to me that you have not seen ether of the films you just talked about and you're just looking to bash some one with out merit or knowlege.
Damn, that was a whole bladder full of bile there.
Look, Helena has been around longer, been in more movies, and played more varied roles. She's done Shakespeare, played a person with Multiple Sclerosis, a nutcase in Fight Club, MANY period pieces, a monkey (ok, ok, Planet of the Apes kinda sucked, but that wasn't HER fault).
Is she better than Rachel Weisz? No. Just had more stuff under her belt. In 5 or 6 years, Rachel may be at the same level. LOVED Rachel in The Shape of Things, and in Enemy at the Gates. She's well on her way to being amazing.

I really don’t know much about Helena Bonham Carter, and I have not seen much of her films but judging by the few I have seen, she does not have Rachel Weisz’s range as an actor. I could be proven wrong but that is what I have seen so far. Helena is a fine actress but I have not seen her play anything against type or in a way anything that is different than the next. Rachel on the other hand has done great work from film to film, even when the movie itself was not that good. Confidence for example was not that good but because of her and Dustin Hoffman, the movie was became bearable . Runaway Jury had it fair share of problems as well but because of her talent and the fact that she was the only actor who stood her ground in the entire film with Gene Hackman, the film was better than average. That’s talent in my opinion, and if she could hold your interest in a very bad movie, and literally steal the movie from season veterans like Hackman and Hoffman, then she is one hell of an actor.
So maybe if you knew what you were talking about daizmay, I would have respect for your opinion but because of your ignorance, I don’t.
really? dustin hoffman is one of my favorite actors, but him and that movie just dont mix well with me. im not trying to bash rachel weisz, becuase i think shes a great actress. not my favorite, but, then again, im very picky. i havnt seen her in too many movies, but she does annoy me a little. but so does renee zellweger, and she IS one of my favorite actresses.

Weisz is good looking, attractive, sexy, and can act.
Carter can act, is attractive sometimes, but in no way good looking.
