good but predictable/typical

I really liked this moive. Edward Burns were great and so was the rest of the cast. The timing was good, the directing was good. The cinematography and overall feel were great and it was an enjoyable movie, a 6 or 7 out of 10 I say.

But:

These con movies, they're all the same, at least the "hollywood" versions. I mean THEY ALWAYS WIN. How about a little "film noir" bitterweet ending every now and then, not just all riding away in the sunset smiling with your buddies while kissing a beautiful girl in a convertable? I admit, I didn't have it exactly figured out, but you knew that was pretty much the way it was going to happen.

so a few complaints:

King- Depending up wether you liked the guy or not, it can go either way, you can assume he would of had enfough clout & brains to get out of it all or you could assume he's going to jail for the heroin. The ending way too "flexible/user friendly".

The two cops- It "looks" like he betrayed them but they "sold him out" first so they "got what they deserved". Nothing wrong with that except it was cheap and lazy writing.

The inside guy at the bank- Lily played him too hard. Her initial opening was the "damsel in distrress". You're supposed to play that soft and draw him in, ok she did that but even then she overdid it a bit. Then when they flip the con to "clueing him in" and seeing if he's intrested, at this point she was being way too "sexual" like enfough so that it should of set off alarm bells that he was being played, fortunately for him they were strait with him but she was manipulating him too much, it could of scared him. It didn't, but it could of. She overplayed her hand there and Jake was bragging on her after.

Also, Lupus wouldn't need to explain anything to he guy about how it would run like a dot com thing, poor lazy writing again.

Lupus- the whole lets show how "brilliant' Jake was by being able to play Lupus either way, not anything really taht brilliant going on there.

The 2 biggest holes:

The gunman- He wouldn't just freak out and runaway like that, that was really, really, really lame, proably the only truly BIG plot hole.

The getaway- 5 million dollars, split 5 ways, after cutting in the customs guy and the bank guy and a few other corners, thats still less than a million a piece. Thats not enfough to hideon from one of the biggest mob bosses on the west cost. The other mistake was big, this last one was HUGE.

Oh wait, I'll add one, KING WAS NOT THAT STUPID, he was tricked way too easily and wouldnt be tied directly to the events at the airport.

Yes...I agree. It was a really entertaining movie. But one you may be looking for is wild things....there are so many twists in that movie, enough for 3 different movies...and the ending was pretty unpredicatble as well.
