The Sting (spilers to both movies)

Is it just me, or does this movie share many elements with the movie The Sting? Observe: Both movies start with a fairly simple con. The money taken is accidentally connected to a big-shot criminal. The big shot criminal kills one of the con men. The movie ends with "dead" bodies, with blanks being shot, and fake blood. There are corrupt cops who think that they are being taken in by the feds. The "feds" turn out to be in league with the con artist. The big-shot criminal never finds out the truth, because he thinks the con man/men is/are dead. Clearly the writers of Confidence have seen the movie The Sting.

Loved both movies, though. Wasn't a fan of The Italian Game (the new one) or Heist. Both weren't really heisty enough. What other good Heist-related films are there?

Why did no one mention the Spanish Prisoner?

Was I the only person that saw that film?

A great con film.

Matchstick men was a good con movie as well.

This is so close to The Sting, it stinks. In The Sting the Cons go after a particular high Roller Doyle Lonnergan.

In this movie, Hoffman sets the stage to Sting or Con a third party.

He thinks he is in control, when he is just along for the ride.

Same ending, everyone that is not in on the "con" thinks everyone else is dead, or arrested.

The Good Guys the "Cons" get away.

Someone mentioned the bird and red hair as a superstition.

I believe that was in the movie as a red herring to throw the audience off.

These guys are not superstitious.

For good "sting" movies, how about "Nine Queens"? It was really engrossing, even though I had to watch it with English subtitles.

I agree with you

This movie is a rip-off of the sting

One of the best CON movies is House of Games, one of Mamet's best. It's a few year's earlier and quite a bit better than his The Spanish Prisoner. Another good one is The Grifters.

I just saw this movie and I was thinking about how it was influenced by The Sting. I agree. The Sting is far beter than Confidence though.
