IT seems that everyone likes to bash it but I like it. Judgeing TV-series is always difficult. Regarding mystery crimes CSI takes the lead and the highest ratings. Despite all the praise I disliked WAKING THE DEAD.
Production values could have been higher in the Holmes series. But they aren't high in WAKING THE DEAD, either.
Yeah I really liked at least 2 of the films from this series (The Case of the Whitechapel Vampire and The Sign of Four).
I view them more as entertainment than some sort of authentic "take" on Holmes, though.
In fact, considering the 2 aforementioned films, I can't think of a single other Holmes franchise where I've been so thoroughly charmed throughout viewing. Yeah I said it. Charmed.
This is the only one that I've seen in the Matt Frewer series of Holmes. I liked it for it's atmospheric photography. This is not unlike the old Basil Rathbone's 'Scarlet Claw' Holmes story. I liked the 'dhampiro' vampire legend being incorporated into the story. Different and interesting.
