Water child

Just a note of interest: the name Mitsuko is Japanese for Water Child. Also the family name of the actress who played Ikuko at age 16 is Mizukawa, which means Water River.

Also in Japanese tradition, children under seven were referred to as mizuko because they weren't fully born into the world until they reached that age and were still more closely tied to the world of the dead and unborn.

Pretty cool references for a film that dealt with a lot of water.
