i love this movie, but it's too long
in the book, the whole daydream about not going to prison takes up just a couple pages, but putting it on film, it drags and plain just takes too long. here's a better ending:
when Monty is in the car with his father, and he sees all the people he ranted about in the bathroom, he puts his hand up to the window, as if to say, "you were all the things i hated about this city ... and i miss you already." if you fade to black there, we're talking about an unequivocal masterpiece.
i just turn the movie off at that point when i watch it.
