I'm sure they call themselves that in Baltimore and all but I find it dubious that they say it over and over like that. " I'm a police" I'm murder police" He's a police from West Side" I dunno I just think they pour it on a little thick. They always seem to take something that smacks of realism and over do it til it sticks out.

Yeah I think you missed the point. Or maybe I did but to me it seems like a way the cops poke a little fun at the inner city dialect and how it has that twang. I guess its just something that stuck so now its more or less a term of endearment for talented officers and detectives.
