Should I buy it on blu-ray?

I really really want to watch this series, but it isn't on Netflix in my region and I have no other legal way of watching it. I've seen it on blu-ray and I've been tempted to buy it, but since I haven't seen it and I don't know how much I'll like it, I thought I'd ask you guys for your opinion. I don't think I've ever seen a series in this genre.

If you have Amazon Prime the entire series is avaliable for free. Actually most all HBO series are on there for free. I'm watching it now haha.

Amazon Prime: probably is the best way to go- I think the 1st month is free similar to Netflix

HBO GO: Try and see if you can use someone HBO account and watch the Wire on there.

Blu-ray - Is actually a great buy if you haven't brought it on another format already. You should also get a digital copy included so you can watch it on mobile devices.

Netflix: Yeah you can't stream it but you can still rent if from them through their rental service. I've never done it so I'm too sure how it works.

Itunes: You can buy each episode individually

Try the public Library: Seriously they have all type of stuff there.

Warning::: Seriously though, you may not even like the show when you first watch it. Its very different from traditional TV and different than whats going on now. Some people have came to this very board to say they hate it or don't understand it but as time passed they revisited and now its the greatest show in the world to them.

The Wire is the best show ever made. But I can't tell you that if you buy the bluray you won't be disappointed. I'd try my best to watch a few episodes for free somewhere. But whenever you're ready the greatest show on earth will still be here.

I have it on Blu-Ray and love it. Every season has at least 2 commentaries. I've read, though, that the show was deliberately shot in 1:33 letterbox while the blu-Rays are 1:69 widescreen. Still, the picture is very sharp and there are many extras.

No idea if you have access to it via a gaming console, smart phone, or tablet but HBO Now is how I binge watched the series. You can get a first month of it free if I'm not mistaken (unless that's changed since I signed up for it) otherwise it's like 15 bucks a month and has all of HBO's series to watch, movies, sports, and stand up specials. Just have to download the app from your Google Play account or what have you and you'll be good.

Doesn't matter regular dvd or blue ray. It's just a great show.

That's where I get all my DVDS from to catch up on these great shows (I work in a college library). You would not believe what libraries carry as far as TV, Movies, Music, etc. If your library does not have it, ask them to 'special order it' through Inter Library Loan (ILL). This system (and every library offers it, though they don't publicize it because it's more work for the staff!) allows them to request the item from public, private and college libraries throughout the states (sometimes from other countries). You would be surprised how easy and fast it is.
