Just watched the finale (spoilers)

Why was Herc ok working for an obviously corrupt lawyer? Yea he was an idiot, but he usually had good intentions. Was it just because of the pay?

The main thing that bothered me was Duke scamming Mr. Prez for money. I would have really liked to see him enroll in school and have one of those kids end up having a better life. Why did he choose to take the money and use it for drugs? I don't understand the logic behind that.

Also, what was the meaning of Marlo's act at the end? Where he took that drug corner? Was it to show he could never leave the streets?

Er... Because he was a drug addict? Logic isn't usually their strong point.

If all four kids highlighted in season 4 lived happily ever after it would be false and untrue. Having just one of them break out with the assistance of Colvin and his family is the best you could expect

Judger is a 100% correct. The funny thing was the one that "lived happily ever after" was the biggest a** at the beginning of season 4.

He was always shown as a cop who had no problem crossing the line to make an arrest. Since he got fired, he needed a job somewhere and got PAID to work for the lawyer. The money was great and he could basically do what he wanted.

Duke is just another good example of the show keeping true to real life and not sugar-coating it. The scene when he goes in with the guys who sell metal/have horses it is shown these guys are addicts (like what Mike tells him - I know what goes on in there). Just a matter of time until he became an addict. He just wanted the next high and didn't care what he had to do to get money for it (remember earlier when Bubble's sister reminds him that he pawned her whole kitchen?).

By the time Duke went to see Prez, he had been living in the stables with the drug addicted arabbers for a couple of weeks or even months, as evidenced by the dirt in his hair, clothes and shoes, so there was plenty of time for him to get strung out looking for his next fix. My heart broke at this part.

Yeah that hit me hard.

Dukie is just starting to find his way when they boot him out and send him to high school. He can't handle this change so he bails on school. He realizes he can't cut it as a drug dealer and is too young to get a real job.
