No more message boards!

What the hell!? How am I supposed to live without reading about your views/likes/hatred about movies and TV shows? IMDb made a terrible decision?

IMPORTANT: IMDb is the world's most popular and authoritative source for movie, TV and celebrity content. As part of our ongoing effort to continually evaluate and enhance the customer experience on IMDb, we have decided to disable IMDb's message boards on February 20, 2017. This includes the Private Message system. After in-depth discussion and examination, we have concluded that IMDb's message boards are no longer providing a positive, useful experience for the vast majority of our more than 250 million monthly users worldwide. The decision to retire a long-standing feature was made only after careful consideration and was based on data and traffic.

In case you're thinking why posting this here, I can't let go of this show. One of the best inspiring and most loved shows. So, if the above is true and goes as planned, we'll have no one to share or fight our views? Sad, IMDb is letting people move to "Social Networks"

This is sad. Is there anywhere on their 'social networks' you can break down to any individual movie ever and have a discussion? Just asking.

reply

I'd love to know that. Maybe someone could give some suggestions...

There are so many shows I want to talk about it... and read about it...

I can't believe they're doing this...

reply

I can't believe it, either! My heart is breaking!

This is probably thanks to the moronic trolls whose presence has multiplied over the last year or two - such as those who ruined the message boards for The Walking Dead. Damn them!!

reply

No they could have mods if they wanted. They didn't want mods so there's no filter. Trolls didn't ruin anything, they let the site turn to sh!t. Its on them not the trolls.

reply

Maybe reddit for some popular shows. This is just disappointing. I know imdb has trolls and maybe aren't that popular, but why do they have to shut it down? Is it really that much work for them?

It's like cutting off one's leg when it got infectious.

Unfortunately not!

Just saw this today as well. very saddened by this this. I've been posting on her for 10 years now.

I'm also a Columbo fan. Someone provided a link to a place where we can attempt to continue. The Columbo crowd stayed classy and never got infiltrated with the vile trolls that get on most other boards including this one. Some of the most intelligent analysis resided here-what a shame!

reply

Do you have a link or something?

reply

Not for the Wire.

reply

I just saw this now and it sucks but Wire fans fret not!

Google The Wire reddit to access their sub-forum for this show. You won't miss this imdb board much I promise. It is STILL an active place to discuss topics and is very similar.

That said, this sucks but reddit has message boards for virtually every show anyway. This was just my other place to do it.

This some shameless *beep*

This has been the only website that I M aware of where I can vent and discuss my favorite movies or tv series. The internet seems to be at war with Forums for a long time. Yes the content is "not needed" but it's also a place people can gather and have fun talking about something that isn't politics.

Our only choice is to make a new database for forum purposes lol whose with me! :/ we don't have the money do we

It's complete *beep*. Hopefully they change their minds.

Unfortunately, they aren't. Those stupid pages with "D'oh!" keep coming up every now and then for the past few hours. Looks like they want to send us a message that the quite obvious is coming as fast as possible.
