Just started watching this show which i suppose is a precursor to The Wire. I have seen each season of the Wire at least 3 times. I absolutely love the show. It is so strange to see all these actors that appeared in the Wire on the show The Corner, especially in different roles.

Lestor Freeman and Norm Wilson play street junkies on the show. that is very difficult to see after seeing Lestor take names and kick ass on the Wire. to see him hyping up like that. LOL

Watched first 2 episodes and have counted 10 actors from the Wire that were on the Corner so far. some in very small roles

Marla Daniels plays a junkie
Prop Joe works in a shoe store
Detective Sydnor is just a high school kid out on the streets
Jay Landsman is a construction worker buying copper from all the dope fiends at a discount.

Great show and one that I tend to rewatch just prior to a Wire rewatch.

BTW, just wait till Cedric Daniels turns up. ;)

With Homicide: there's quite a little B'more universe.

I just watched an episode commentary of The Wire the other day in which a couple of showrunners talked about having had a "rule" when it came to roles on each show: those actors who'd played dealers and drug users on The Corner would be "straights" on The Wire, and vice versa.

Wow, never heard of The Corner. Might have to check it out now that i'm done with The Wire.

There were a lot of familiar faces. The real DeAndre from The Corner played Brother Mozone's sidekick, Lamar. Unfortunately he died of a drug overdose a couple of years ago.

The real Tyreika played the school secretary.

The real Blue played a patron at Butchie's bar.

Lester Freeman played Fat Curt

Marla Daniels played Bunchie Boyd

Cedrick Daniels played Fran's junkie boyfriend that stole their food.

Detective Leandor played RC

Officer that played officer Weiner was officer Bob Brown .

The guy that played Carcetti's campaign manager, Norman, was Scalio in the Corner

Orlando played Francine's brother, Scoogie.

Micheal Lee's stepfather played Francine's brother, Stevie

The school principal played Gary's boss at the crab factory

The little boy, Brooks, from The Corner played a kid in the Barksdale stash house that Omar first robbed.

The officer that busted Orlando played DeAndre's cousin Dinkie.

The guy Day Day played Bread in the Corner.

The officer that Avon set up played Gary's brother.

The girl that played Squeak was Peaches on The Corner.

I'm sure there are a few more that I can't think of.
