I Say 'Bring It Back.'

In a nutshell, the show was cheesey. But come on, it wasn't that bad. It could've been worse, but it also could've been better. I say they should bring it back, but maybe as like a VH1 show and maybe with a different title. I'd keep the cast the way it was. So yeah... That's what I think.

Nah, it was pretty bad. Specially when compared to That 70's Show....or any other tv show....including barney.

I agree with the OP. The problem I think people run into with this show is that they all watched the pilot episode. This show got so much better after the pilot, it's ridiculous - it became more about the characters than the decade, which is really what it should've done from word go. It found its stride a bit too late. The pilot is not representative of this show's quality in the least.

I say bring it back.

Problem is, a lot of people are old enough to remember how the 80s were. But not enough to remember how 70s were. And 80s were nothing as depicted in the show. But the spike-hair girl was improving every week... i acknowledge that :) But it could work the next decade maybe.

reply

I could never get into this show because I was so attached to that 70s show and its characters that the 80s show I just could not connect with.

I am trying to find out were I can get the whole season. I love it now and you are all right I didn't like it then. At this point with what is going on in the world for kids to see how we lived it would be pretty cool. I watched that 70's show because I was interested in it because thats what my older brothers lived. And I think now teens and early 20's would look at this show and see how we lived. If anybody knows where I can get the whole season of 17 episodes please let me know.

reply

Well, you can always download a torrent, of course...

reply

I got the whole season from www.veoh.com. You will have to download the special player, it's free and really good. You can either stream it or download it straight to your computer (i would recommend downloading). There's also a lot of other shows on it.

Hmmmmmmmmmm.......six years after the show has been cancelled.......I don't knowwwwww

At first I hated the show, but after I DLd the episodes and watched them, I got to like those characters. For me, it's one of the shows where I didn't laugh like crazy, but still enjoyed, cause the characters are quite likable. Maybe a remake of those episodes, followed by a bunch of new ones would be nice. After all, it has been ten years after the launch of That '70s Show, why not start a new That '80s Show now? Rewritten for sure (especially the pilot), and recast, because actors grew older... but without recasting Geoff Pierson and Margaret Smith.

I don't know in other parts of the world, but in my country, people who love the 70's usually hate the 80's and viceversa. This is music and fashionwise. I think That 80's Show could've been so much more successful had it not been aimed at That 70's Show fans. It needed a new audience, and years after That 70's Show ended, maybe now it has a better chance.

I could never get into that 70's show, and never really payed it any mind. When that 80's show aired in 02, I was a loyal viewer of all thirteen episodes that were aired.

Perhaps this is due to the fact that I was born 3-15-80
Being a child during the 80's, I really wanted to get in touch with what was going on in the adult world around me. Some may call it a comedy, and others may call it a spoof. For what it's worth, I adored it, and the end of episode 13 left me wanting more. Tough Sh*t I suppose.

Now, for the issue at hand.

I strongly believe that the show was a great idea, the cast was beautifully chosen, and the story is very humorous, and well written.

The problem is that it was an alternative to that 70's show, and because of the time it was aired....It made a firm attempt to divide the audience. I believe that there was a lot of resentment towards the show for that reason. Especially from those who are more familiar with the 70's

My sister was a die hard that 70's show fanatic, and used to respond in an angry manner whenever that 80's show was mentioned. Almost as if it was threatening to take something away from her.

I believe that if it had been aired after the series finale of that 70's show, it probably would have been successful due to the demand that it would have brought forth.

Anybody agree?

I remember the 80s, being born in 1974! But I didn't like this show because I just didn't warm to any of the main characters. That 70s Show copied one very simple but successful aspect of 'Friends' (which was, of course, a huge commercial succes): it chose 6 characters to portray 6 different character-types. Viewers could quickly empathise with one or other of them because they found them funny/attractive, or recognised their own quirks or traits in them (at one point in the 1990s cou could say something like "Don't be so Monica!" and the reference was instantly understood). 'That 70s Show' also tried to cover a range of types that people might recognise: the tomboyish girl-next-door, the annoying cheerleader, the Nihilistic kid-from-the-wrong-side-of-the-tracks etc. and it worked. 'That 80s Show had fewer main characters and if, like me, you found none of them appealing or interesting or engaging, you didn't make the effort to watch it regularly.

I found it a bit bland. I watched about the first ten episodes, I think, but mostly by accident - they were on while I was preparing dinner or something. If I missed one, I didn't make an effort to find out what I'd missed...

While the concept had a lot of potential, it just didn't work. Because That 70's Show was such a hit, they thought they could strike gold twice, but as we saw it didn't happen.

Many tv shows have been canceled in the past that were actually very good, but this is one show that deserved to be because it was just that. Bad.

I liked the show ~ only complaints for me where that of the actors just looked too old or just didn't mesh with one another. Loved the idea of seeing 80's style back on screen along with the music. Think they should come up with another show similiar but perhaps base it around School (a.k.a avoiding the whole comparing it to That 70's Show). And totally think VH1 doing it would be a great idea ~ would at least get them away from too many countdown specials.

For the floosies who are begging for this piece of a trash show to come back - GET OVER IT, it's dead....... DEADDD it's been dead for 7 years meaning that it is beyond decay...... it is way way beyond the fact of being revived..... okay ???? kk good now go watch something else that is reoccurring and is fun to watch.... kk kiddies?

We can DO IT ALLLL DAY LONG, (We'll have to pay more for the light bill if we do it at night!)

Guess you misread my statement ~ I did not say anything about bringing this show back but to come up with a version like it. Basically a show set in the 80's ~ for someone who likes to critize it's odd you decided to venture within this board in the first place. Perhaps you are actually the one wanting this show to come back.
