Considering the movie was an over-the-top comedy about a guy with anger management issues, having jack nicholson waking you up and asking for breakfast is very outrageous. And then having Sandler say, "there's a denny's down the street", further adds to the outrageous dialogue. I thought it was funny. The entire movie was full of unrealistic scenes. I especially liked the anger management meetings. Very funny.

shareThere is one (that I know of) on Staten Island (one of NYC boroughs), but there aren't any in any of the other boroughs. I believe Denny's restaurants are usually in suburban areas. Denny's may have been mentioned in that line as a form of product placement (just like many Will Ferrell movies mention Applebee's).
