Imagine this movie without the comic stuff.

I am actually typing this while the movie is still playing. The story bores me enormously. The scenes that mix the story with the comic though are somehow entertaining.

So I'm starting to wonder, is it me? Is this movie actually a beautiful gem and am I too blind to see that? Or is it what I think it is: a boring depressing flick that might be interesting to readers of the original comic, but has nothing else to offer except for a few animation mixed with live action moments?

I am not a big Harvey Pekar or R. Crumb fan and I liked this a lot. I bought it on VHS many years ago.

I never read his comic, and I found this movie enjoyable.

I adore this film to death, and don't find it depressing at all. I too have not read any of the comics. I have read Cancer Year, but that was long after I first watched this movie.
