Revenge of the Nerds question.....

Why is it that Toby had to go all the way to Toledo to see the movie Revenge of the Nerds? I used to live in the Cleveland area, and, at that time, they had 2 arthouse theaters that I know of. That seems inconsequential, though. ROTN wasnt an arthouse movie, was it? It got a wide release from the very beginning, which means that it would have been in every theater around Cleveland as well as ever city that had a movie theater, right? Does anyone else know differently?

ok so i have never made a post on this website. matter of fact i made an account just to make this one post. however i gotta say, whoever wrote this question is truly a *beep* idiot. like ive seen some comments people have made on other movies and i thought "who the *beep* cares?" but *beep* man, this jerkoff takes the cake when it comes to seriously pointless questions. like did this guy expect some one to be like "yeah i know exactly what you mean and i thought the same thing while watching this movie. matter of fact it puzzled me so that i was gonna write a post on it on imdb but you beat me to the punch!" dude seriously...come on.

Seriously, you should have just kept up your immaculate record of having not posted on this site.......Have you seen either movie before? Please go back under your bridge...

reply

Yeah, you really should have kept quiet.

The guy asks an honest question on a movie site, so you go out of your way to create an account just to say "Who cares? You're an idiot." You're pathetic, drfitzadelic. Asking questions about details of a movie is precisely what these message boards are here for.

I concur with the OP. Seems odd the guy had to drive so far to see such a popular movie.

I can kill you with my brain.

Harvey is that you?

Not Harvey, sorry :( (Unless that is a nickname that I have that I dont know about yet!!)

Why make up a silly lie like that? Everybody can see that you made your account in 2006.

reply

I don't know why you thought sharing that with us was worth making an account for.

im from here. i dont remember MAPLEWOOD but there was a MAPLETOWN.

Maybe Toby was a little late in catching up with the movie at the box office and it had already left theaters in Cleveland, and was playing at a shoebox 99 cent theater in Toledo? There were not many 20 screen megaplexes in 1984.

Dude means nice guy. Dude means a regular sort of person.

On the DVD commentary track Toby says that he read about the movie in a Toledo newspaper, so he drove to Toledo where the article said the movie was opening there. In an interview (www.smh.com.au/articles/2003/10/09/1065676090192.html?from=storyrhs) he said, "I drove to Toledo because I really wanted to see it. Then, a week later, I found out it was opening in Cleveland. I've seen it 40-plus times since then." I have no idea how the movie was rolled out, but I suppose it's possible that it opened a week earlier in Toledo than in Cleveland. According to IMDb, ROTN opened on 364 screens, which is a more limited release than really big films, which at the time opened on over 1000 screens.
