Joyce in the Letterman green room?

Why does Joyce try to change the channel on the TV in the Letterman green room? I mean, what was the point of showing this character quirk?

Otherwise, I thought this whole movie was so great, and threaded together very well. Probably one of the best performances by Judah Friedlander too!

I always wondered that too! I never saw the original interview in its entirety, but the only thing I can think of is something happened in that interview that wasn't conducive to the plot.

It was to show her interest in humanitarian type stuff if I'm not mistaken. She was waiting for some breaking news story though I can't remember specifically what event she was looking for.

It was also to show she was pretty unhappy with the Letterman show in general - she disapproved as it was light entertainment - dumbed down pap for the masses - and she felt Harvey was selling out by fooling around with Letterman instead of discussing serious issues.

I used to want to change the world. Now I just want to leave the room with a little dignity.

The best answer is her expression when the guy in the sandwich shop says, "you and stupid pet tricks are hilarious."

Actually, i thought it was to Show that she squirmed, first at the idea, then at the fact that Harvey was making a fool of himself on a public TV Show. Notice how in he Hotel Scene before, Harvey gats more and more erratic and Joyce tries to calm him down. She knows that when it comes to public appearance, harvey can't hold his own against Letterman.

NOT YOU!
