Most depressing apartment ever filmed?

While I like most this movie for its orginality, damn that apartment is just soooooo depressing!

Man is it depressing, mopey, shotgun to the head in winter depressing.

I don't think there has ever been a movie filmed that had a more gloomy apartment. No sunlight, shades drawn, messy, laying about the apartment all day in your jelly stained pj's depressing.

If it wasn't for those damn apartment scenes I would probably purchase this movie to add to my collection.

I completely agree, 100%

Actually, I don't even remember the apartment, so I guess I lied.

oh, i didn't think the apartment was that bad. It just needed to be tidied up a bit.

I think the apartments in Dark Water and Mullhulland Drive (second half) are much more depressing.

I would think it was true to life too. It also brings up more character developement. and begs the response, some things you can't control, but your home (if you have one) you can.

Ha! I agree. I thought it was pretty depressing. The mess would drive me nuts. But I also agree with the above poster (altpensacola) that it's pretty true-to-life, which is maybe one of the reasons why it's so depressing. :)

For me, I think the rest of the movie makes up for the downers (i.e. the apartment and such) enough that I'll probably purchase it.

Watch Eraserhead.

Rubber tubing, gas, saw, gloves, cuffs, razor wire, hatchet, Gladys, and my mitts.

Travis' apartment in Taxi Driver is pretty depressing.

Hands down. The most depressing living space is James Gandolfini and Susan Sarandon's place in Romance And Cigarettes. Yuck.

Same goes for the movie. :-D

what about rocky's apartment in rocky?

Rico Rizzo's in Midnight Cowboy.

It didn't see so bad when Harv and R were just hanging out, drawing, talking comics and listening to jazz, but it seemed to mold once Joyce got there.

My nominee for 'most depressing apartment in a movie' is the crime scene in "Se7en", with that dead fat guy. (Fun fact: that actor (playing the corpse) was actually the film's screenwriter.)
