Amanda
Am I the only one who thinks this movie could have been a lot more interesting if it had been about Amanda and her off-screen girlfriend?

shareHer girlfriend is dead.
shareI meant to say that the film would have been more interesting if it had been about them and their life together rather than about Julia Roberts' dull-ass character. The movie would have probably ended with Amanda getting fired.
shareOh, gotcha. I agree, Julia Roberts' character is boring as hell. The movie would be so much better without her in it, and just focusing on the girls or, as you suggest, Amanda and Josephine.
shareI agree that Amanda's role should've been expanded to make the movie more interesting.
We never know if Catherine Watson is truly progressive, or fears commitment and tries to pass it off as being progressive.

I loved Amanda, and wish we'd seen more of her. I was surprised that Nancy, being the stodgy traditionalist she was, was so glib about Amanda and her 'companion' Josephine.
Did Josephine live in the house with them (in the room that Katherine ended up with)? I'm guessing she worked at Wellesley, and I wonder what her position was there. So many questions.
