Plothole/Continuity error?

This is my fav Harry Potter movie but is this a plot hole:

-After confronting Pettigrew and finding out the truth, the gang exits the Whomping Willow where Lupin then turns into the werewolf and a fight ensues. The continuity error is this: WHY WAS THE WHOMPING WILLOW NOT SMASHING EVERYONE AS THEY STOOD RIGHT UNDER IT AS BEFORE??? Just wondering if there is an answer?

Got the answer! Lupin "freezes" it

In the book, there's a small knot at the base of the tree trunk that immobilizes the tree. Crookshanks, having befriended Sirius in dog form, pressed his paw on the knot as they were all exiting the passage :')

I didn't know that. I got to read the books soon. It's hard to relate when I don't know what's in the books.
