Okay, Dracula II was the guy with the blonde hair. But in the credits it says there's a Dracula III played by Rutger Hauer who plays Dracula in Legacy. So where did the guy with the blonde hair go, or did I miss something?
shareApparently, Rutger Hauer(the "new" Dracula) is trying to get playing a vampire right... he was pretty inept in BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER(the original film version), and he's also playing the vampire Kurt Barlow in the TNT television re-visit to Stephen King's SALEM'S LOT, to be broadcast early Summer '04.

That's such a lame plot device. In the original, Gerard Butler was Dracula in every flashback-from Judas' suicide to Van Helsing catching him. Assuming they couldn't get Gerard, couldn't they at least get someone with dark hair and pretend it was him and just not address it? Like the 2 Fallons on Dynasty.
He still stunk. His half-hearted fight scene was lame & I like Rutgar but the blonde from II was cool, guess cool guy asked for too much money & that was the end of him. But it was probabley they needed a bankable name to make sure it made some money.

Whedon had no idea than and that there afterwards "Buffy" would become a "franchise", as it became.
Given the "right" matarial, Rutger would be an outstanding "vampire". Unfortunately "'Salem's Lot", wasn't it either. (Though he was. In my humble opinion superior than the original "Kurt Barlow", Reggie Nalder.)
But it is a film which still begs a decent "big-screen" adaptation.

shareHe was great! Thanks for letting us know who he was. I guess I just over-looked it when they rolled credits. So I understood why they switched to an older Dracula but to keep the other one would have been nicer. Also Wes changed Dracula's in every one of them I was surprised that he kept as many as characters as did from II to III, at least it helped in the teling of the story. I would have loved for there to be a 4th with Father Uffizi since he was sitting in the chair with his bride at the end & he had most assuredly crossed over as it were.

I think it's pretty obvious. Rutger Hauer looks like an older version of the actor that portrayed Dracula in Dracula II, and the character can in fact age if he does not feed. Quite frankly, I'm overjoyed they got someone like Hauer to play Dracula in the final installment, because watching the pretty boys of I and II try to act menacingly was painful.
Also, I believe Hauer did in fact have a brief appearance in Dracula II, as if I'm not mistaken (though I could be), when they first resurrected Dracula and his face was extremely mishapen, I think it was Hauer. You'd have to watch the part where he's sitting in the corner, before any of the scenes where they strap him to the slab.
I thought Gerard Butler was a great Dracula but I think the only reason he didnt do the seaquel was because he was doing Tomb Raider which is sad because if they would have used him there would have been a better script, a better cast and a better everything.

Hauer can do a menacing vampire. Watch the remake of Salem's Lot.
shareIndeed, I've seen the remake of Salem's Lot and his role (while brief) was very convincing. I think he'll make a great Dracula -- serious villains are his specialty.

Hauer was in drac II: in the part when he gave Uffitzi his little flashback/prediction thing there was vamps feeding alll ovr the place and hauer was in the middle of it. something like that. i'll have t rewatch it to be for sure what was going on.

sharehe was in the second movie at the end when Dracula(stephan billingtons)says "I will show you how it begain and how it will end" they showed ufitzi chopping his head from the 3rd movie it goes by in a fast motion i've watched it like a thousand times.

In "Dracula II", Rutger Hauer was the "Dracula" who had the ugly make-up who came out of the tub when he was first resurrected. This was the only "scene" he appeared in (he had the heavy make-up. And as a member of the Screen Actors Guild, had to be credited). That's why he's credited in II and III. But he was re-cast in the middle of the film (it was a small budget, after all) and was promised he would be cast in the finale. And then was replaced by Steven Billington. But he would be re-cast.
He was and the rest is history.
When I was going thru the extra goodies from D III Rutger looked like he did
because of excesses he was sloppy fat & nasty looking because of(remember when we first saw him) he was watching all these TV's & had like a dozen tubes poked
in all over him main lining blood. He was a couch-less potato hence crappy look.
