Give Rutger a break. The "original Buffy The Vampire Slayer" was then, (as it is now. Always intended to be a "spoof").
Whedon had no idea than and that there afterwards "Buffy" would become a "franchise", as it became.
Given the "right" matarial, Rutger would be an outstanding "vampire". Unfortunately "'Salem's Lot", wasn't it either. (Though he was. In my humble opinion superior than the original "Kurt Barlow", Reggie Nalder.)
But it is a film which still begs a decent "big-screen" adaptation.
"'Salem's Lot". That is. Not "Buffy The Vampire Slayer".
