'There's another body in the basement?'

Now I know people have said this line refers to a deleted scene that only appears in the director's cut BUT could it possibly be an Evil Dead reference? That film takes place in a cabin in the woods where the character gets possessed and chained in the basement. I've also heard of how Cabin Fever is partially influenced by Evil Dead. Anyone else agree that's a possibility?

No one was possessed in this movie. No one was chained in the basement. They were sick; it was a disease they were contracting.

It is in reference to a deleted scene that is in the Director's a cut on blu-ray. The long haired redneck guy Paul hits in the face at the door is dragged down there and deposited as Paul tells him to tell the authorities that the disease wasn't their fault, and it existed before they got there.
