Why didn't the sick guy just walk to his cousins house?????

The guy from the beginning who got infected by the dog and later was set on fire, why the hell didn't he just walk to his cousins (the woman who was slaughtering the pig) house for help??? It makes NO sense. He just hung around their cabin without even thinking of walking to his cousins house? It couldn't of been that far seeing the 2 guys walked there no problem. At least make the effort to walk there. He didn't seem to have a problem walking. Plot hole/bad writing imo.

Homeless people can be surprisingly reluctant to accept help, especially from family. I think that maybe they don't like to feel like their being a burden to them and also maybe they don't like the idea of people pitying them or looking down on them - once again, this applies especially to family.

It might've been okay to ask a perfect stranger for a doctor, but going to his cousin all sick and needy was just something he was too proud to do, you know?
