No aliens?
I like this show but there are no aliens. For a Science fiction space show that is disappointing. There is not much variety in characters if they are all human.

shareStrongly disagree. I find this and BSG to be the best space shows ever and they both specifically left out aliens to focus on complex human characters. Much more relatable in the end.

Side note: Since none of the characters in either BSG or Firefly had been born on Earth, they're all technically "aliens" as well
Yes, you are correct.
Though they did resurrect onto a spaceship, so technically, the bodies we see them in weren't born on earth either.
Let's be bad guys.
No, I like that it has no aliens, makes it much more relatable, realistic and original. Aliens is a very overused concept.
shareI think it's made clear that the series takes place inside a single system that has been colonised by humans, so there isn't really any room for aliens. The Reavers could possibly have fit that description in some ways, if the series had been allowed to develop - they're only really explained in Serenity.
shareSome of the best science fiction has no aliens.
Can't stop the signal.
It's not a science fiction show. It just happens to be set in space. The oft-used description for Firefly is that it's a space western. That's essentially true.
Blade Runner is actual science fiction. No aliens. No spaceships. Go figure.
I would like if there were aliens as well, but...
The entire Firefly universe takes place in a single solar system with a bunch of planets and moons suitable for humans to thrive on (more or less), so there should have been some aliens there already. I know most of the moons and stuff were terraformed by humans, but not all.
Anyway, I find it a great show, and maybe if it had been allowed to run for 7 seasons as intended we would have seen some aliens popping up.
How about those Reavers, though? :P
