today there are thruseters for space suit but in this show there are none ???
Considering the suits were only in like two or three episodes, they possibly forgot to add them.

Good info CGSailor. Thanks. To the OPs point though, I'm in agreement that maneuverability in an EVA suit should be available in this universe but who's to say exactly what we're looking at here. The Serenity crew always had to make do with what they had at the time. It's not inconceivable that Mal just couldn't afford that feature when outfitting his ship. Survival suits vs. EVA suits? Maybe.

They could barely keep their decades old scrap-heap in the sky... and barely kept themselves fed half the time.
Those suits basically look like they were home-made or were really old and probably came with the ship when Mal bought it, and the ship was old and barely functional then.
