Marion + Geoff (and other minimalist movies)
"10" has received a lot of notice for its audacious stylistic austerity.
However a successful BBC comedy series from two years previously, "Marion & Geoff" http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0283760/ used the same technique, in fact only using one fixed camera, and one character. I do wonder whether Kiarostami ever saw this, particularly as he uses the theme from "The Snowman", a British animated feature, over the closing credits.
I was also reminded of Wallace Shawn and Louis Malle's "My Dinner with Andre" from way back in 1981.
"10" is undoubtably a fine piece of work, but it's not as cinematically groundbreaking as some would have us believe.
