Does This Take Place In The 70s?

Jeepers Creepers 3 is coming out and it has Gina Phillips returning as Trish Jenner, so unless she plays a 60-something year old woman in the new movie, it has to take place 23 years after the first film during the next cycle. So, unless Jeepers Creepers II took place sometime in the 1970s, it is being completely retconned because the two films couldn't have happened at the same time.

If part 1 and 2 were set in 2001, then part 3 can be set in 2024 easily. With Trish being around 45. I don't know where you get your math with her being 60 something.

Part 2 couldn't have taken place in the same year as the first movie it would have been 23 years later. So if part 3 took place 23 years after that then Trish would be 60 or 70

Part 2 is just days after part 1. It states on the radio on the school bus that the old church was on fire (like the first one) and that over 300 bodies have been found.

If part 2 was set 23 years after part 1, then it would have been 2024 since part 1 was set in 2001. They mentioned kenny and darla going missing in 1978, 23 years ago.

Maybe you should rewatch both movies to help you with the timeline.

Part 1 - 2001
Part 2 - 2001 (5 days later)

Although the film takes place in 2001, I honestly think the film might as well taken place in the 70's. Everyone drives an old vintage car (the only vehicle that was made after 1969 is the bus) and nobody has a cell phone. Plus, state championships weren't as near as covered as they are now, so it would make sense for the bus to be all alone instead of it being trailed by paparazzi and fans like it would be realistically. On top of this, the obvious racial tension in the film would also make sense, as segregated basketball teams were a new concept.

Seriously though, who the hell is still driving a 1961 Rambler Ambassador station wagon in 2001? And those high school kids are driving a 1948 Ford truck in the 2024 epilogue. How many high schoolers are driving 80 year old vehicles?

While there are a lot of vintage cars in these movies, I doubt either was set in the '70s. In the first movie the police car is clearly a "modern" car. Also, another reason is in the first one they are clearly talking about Wheaten Valley High Class of '78 as being in the past.

With the cell phones I remember back in 2001-2003 cell phones not being the essential item that everyone had. Also, back during that time (at my school at least) kids weren't allowed to have cell phones at school so that could explain why none of the students have them.

When the bus broke down there is a teacher that clearly tries to use his cell phone, but there is no signal.

Not mention that Darry had a cell phone in the first movie.

Is there any reason the movie couldn't be set right after the first one? Trish didn't die and surely some stuff happened that led to the 23rd day.

They could make a bunch of these about different days. There's no reason they'd *have* to change the time period, although they'd have to match the late 90s vibe. It's not hard because the design of the film reaches into different years as well...the cars and the architecture and vinyl records...

I always heard it was the same year as the first one. Just a different day. And I thought it was in the 70's myself till I saw a few modern gadgets. If they didn't have those few things I think they could have set it in the 70's no problem.
