Yet another movie that even I don't know why I like

I like the story a lot. And I think Kate Bosworth did a good job in her role, along with Matthew Davis and Mika Boorem. But most of the other actors were just terrible, and I think the writers / director (who ever controls it) could have put a bit more effort into making things like the surfing look more reaslitic.

ACTORS:

Michelle Rodriguez just reads her lines to her masculine roles, emotionless, just as she does in all of her performances. The ex-boyfriend is terrible and very annoying with his lines: "what, you think you can surf it for real?" "bra?" Umm...I know I pointed out a few more when I popped my DVD in the other day, but I don't remember them. I think these two were the worst.

STUNTS:

I completely understand that movie companies have to use stunt doubles in cases like these. This isn't the Flashdance scenario, where the actor would have only had to take a few courses to learn how to dance a few steps. Surfing is dangerous. But during the tournament and practice scenes, I hate how they filmed one ride, posted a terrible picture of Bosworth, and just played the same clip over and over again. Did anyone ever notice that? If you havn't, I hope you don't, because it's one of those things where once you see it, you can never watch it without noticing it.

Yeah, there were a few things that could have been done to make the movie better, and I understand that there are a lot of people who dislike the movie for the points I just made. But for some unknown reason, as much as I complain about it afterwards, I am able to watch the movie and enjoy it for the storyline and ignore bad acting and poor stunts when I watch it.

It's just one of those things that I can't explain. It's like Mommie Dearest: it was made so poorly with bad actors, and yet I still enjoy watching it.

For me it's Blue Crush, Empire Records, and Vertical Limit.

What's important is that everyone is happy and breeding. What else matters in life?

I totally know what you mean. I love this movie, but I don't know why. This, Bring it On, and Center Stage just all make me feel good, no matter how bad they are lol.

maybe its becuase woman were portrayed as humans rather than the whores they are portrayed as today :\

I loved the whole summer vibe to it. The soundtrack is amazing as well.

I have to admit this film is one of my guilty pleasures...

I actually love the comradery amongst the girls, very much like any tight knit group of guys I grew up with.

Soundtrack, filming, and almost documentary feel at times, I enjoy this film.

If I could ask for something to be redone, I am not entirely sure the love interest is necessary but so be it. And the last shot of Kate Bosworth's character coming out of the Pipeline on her killer last run is just simply a shame... not at all necessary to put that cheesy shot into the film. Fail.

I hate its portrayal of Hawaii.

This movie seems to use every Hawaii cliche in the book.

I only lived in Hawaii cause of the Navy and I know that's not the same as being a local. But after living there for several years I could tell the difference between the tourist Hawaii and real Hawaii.

I thought "Blue Crush" had many of the elements of a classic buddy movie except that the buddies were young women. It reminded me of growing up on the wrong side of the tracks in New Jersey with little or no adult supervision. But the only surfing we had was crowd surfing at rock concerts.

Mika Boorem was Anne Marie's little sister Penny reminded me a lot of my best friend's little brother. His brothers and their friends made many sacrifices for his ungrateful a$$. That is something he has conveniently forgotten. He was lucky he did not end up in foster care.
