Sorry, but....

...this movie very sincerely does not deserve the horrible rating it has. Sure, everybody wanted to hate Bennipez (or whatever the sh!t it was) back then, so seemingly everybody piled on. It's a stale rom-com with an actual decent performance from Bertha as well as some comedic pangs from his character. (sneezing penis line is quite quotable)

That's all it is: A stale rom-com. Not the worst thing to happen to cinema.

Dreamcatcher, Honey and The Core are all much worse in their respective categories (all released in the same year) than this movie.

The chemistry isn't great, no. But I can name a film I've seen recently from Ben's current wife that has way poorer chemistry 'Draft Day' (here's a hint, Costner and Garner are supposed to be a couple in that movie)

It's a cheap 'Rain Man' ripoff if it is guilty of anything.

Is this film worthy of a high 6 or 7? No. But in no way does it deserve the 2-plus it has now. It's not great, but not horrendous. A high 4, low 5.

There have been worse, I can probably name 5 that year alone.

I went in with zero expectations, while its far from great, its not the worst things i've ever seen. There are cheese-worthy moments ofc, there is not much to praise in it, although i actually liked Bartha's performance of the intellectually disabled character, that's probably what got me to the finish line. 4-5/10 from me. I think a lot of hate comes from the bandwagon effect, Ive definitely seen worse.

Exactly. I mean, I was able to watch this all the way through. That's quite a bit more than I can say for some other movies, and really it just doesn't make sense why there's so much hate.

I guess if Kanye West and Kim Kardashian made a movie today it would get a 1 just on principle.

Agreed, It was bad, and the music especially was atrocious. But Al Paino's bit was genuinely entertaining, there were some good lines, and Walken was good too. I'd give it a 3 outta ten.
