What were Christopher Walken and Al Pacino thinking?

Did they lose a bet or something? Did they expect it to become a good movie? Why would they sign on to be in this?

Or was it some twisted sense of humor on Al's behalf? He could be (not saying that he is) doing a parody of himself - first speaking slow and calm, and then SHOUTING!

Walken's reasons I couldn't get at all. He isn't even playing well, just yelling at Affleck.

Any ideas of what made two World Class superstars agree to be in this B- ..., no wait, Z-movie?

I don't know about Chris, but Al was the lead in a previous Martin Brest flick - 'Scent of a Woman'. That would be a factor, I would think.

$$$$$$$. Look at the budget.

They probably got $5-10mil a piece for cameos.

To be fair, their parts were cameos. So what damage was done to career was kinda of minimal considering there parts were so small. Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez careers were definitely were more harmed. Particularly Lopez, Affleck has rebounded, but Lopez is now judging American idol and her film career has never gotten back on track.

This is not Christopher Walken first infamous bomb, he had a starring role in Heaven's Gate.

This was the end for Al Pacino. He never recovered and probably never will. If you look at the before and after in his career, it's pretty clear. In the years preceding this he was in Donnie Brasco, the Insider and Insomnia. But after appearing in this movie, he entered into an endless string of horrible B movies. Including the likes of 88 Minutes (good lord that was awful), Manglehorn, Jack and Jill, Misconduct and Righteous Kill. Not a single critically acclaimed film since this atrocity.

Pretty silly to think that someone of Pacino's stature was done in by a single scene in a single bad movie. Way too many factors in life to be basing everything on that.

Back off! ... Way off!

Same with Robert De Neiro and Christopher Walken, they just don't seem to want to be in good movies in their later years. Although Walken did provide a voice to the new Jungle Book film and that was great.
