The last 2D animated film..Im seeing it.

Ya, I heard this movie is going to be a HUGE disappointment. Cast members in Burbank were even saying that it was "So boring that it puts you to sleep". And lets not forget to mention the "PG" rating.

But hey..this is Disney's last hurrah with 2D animation for a long, long time. Tsk tsk.

I guess we can look forward to Eisner's "Digital Disney Decade".

I was Home on the Range too this weekend, and my whole family loved it. I was particularly impressed with the scene that featured the beautiful Bonnie Raitte song. The theater that I went to all seemed to leave the movie smiling..

Yeah-people were clapping and cheering in our theater. I found the movie highly entertaining and thought that all the actors did a great job! Loved the cows and all the farm animals-and really liked the dancing scenes (especially the bar one with the cows-how funny!)

Which leads to the question as to why Disney didn't renew their contract with Pixar if they intend to do nothing but CGI movies now. To be honest, their new "Chicken Little" movie sounds interesting, but doesn't seem like the kind of story that will appeal to a wide margin of movie-goers. My guess is that Disney's new CGI era is going to fail miserably because if they couldn't write a great story and provide excellent marketing when they were doing traditional animation, it's unlikely that they'll be able to do it now even with computers. They'll catch on eventually.

~But hey - that's just me.~

The reason for Pixar not renewing with Disney was that Pixar came to Eisner to renegotiate the contract and Eisner refused. No one expected Pixar to be as successful as they were. Eisner blew a prime opportunity to get an extended deal, but his greed won out. That annoyed Pixar, so when the contract came up, they listed terms which Disney would not accept, which is quite understandable.

The problem with Disney is that they have forgotten that you need a good story and it needs to have a heart.

Don't bet the farm on Chicken Little, or is it the Boy who cried Wolf now? :-)
Cliche central, no real story, no heart. It might change for the better, but I would not count on it.

Slight correction, while this is most likely the last Disney Feature Animation movie to be released, it is not the last one made, Brother Bear is. If Roy Disney can get rid of Eisner, then Feature Animation may return, as he did before.

The release dates were switched, which makes sense since Home on the Range is a better "summer" movie and Brother Bear is better for a November release.

Home on the Range is not a bad movie, but it is not a good movie either. It is basically just Saturday morning cartoon without a heart. You just don't really care about most of the characters.

Yeah, there are some really good movies to look forward to (heavy sarcasm). Disney has lost the fact that you need a good story (forget the medium used) and the type of movies that Disney makes needs to have a heart.

The joke is that there will not be a sequel to Home on the Range as the characters were all eaten at the wrap party: chicken, pork ribs and beef ribs. No goat or horse though :-).
