I just saw it

Honestly, I liked it. There was a lot about it that was like a return to the old Disney movies. The one thing that I miss that I liked in many of the old ones is the details like tall grass swaying in the wind, etc.

Oscarwatch.com has it listed as a contender for best animated movie and while I'm sure that SHREK 2 or THE INCREDIBLES will win that award, I wouldn't object to HOME ON THE RANGE being a nominee. Seems like it would be nice to include a hand drawn feature among the nominees and that might be what the owners of the site figured in making it a contender.

Certainly Home On The Range is terribly underrated. I saw it yesterday and I liked it too. I thought it had a classic vibe as well. It was minimalist and modern, which perfectly fits the style which nowadays is more popular, but it also had this 40s 50s, "Silly Symphnony" touch. The worst thing is that goes straight to the point too soon and there's no time for character development, but we all knew that. I would like to see it nominated for an Oscar (not for the music, because it was not that memorable).

With SHREK 2, SHARK TALE, THE INCREDIBLES, and THE POLAR EXPRESS getting so much talk, I fear HOME ON THE RANGE doesn't stand a chance of a nomination, but hey, we can hope!!!

I'm glad to see some praise for "Home on the Range". I thought it was fun and entertaining, so I don't really know where all the bashing is coming from. Some of it is reminiscent of Looney Tunes which made it even better. Did someone actually expect another Lion King? Oh, please. "Home" is a light and funny story of how 3 cows, a horse, a rabbit, and other farm animals join together to save their farm from being sold to an evil yodeling crook (don't ya hate them varmits?). There's some funny voices from Roseanne, Cuba Gooding Jr., Steve Buscemi and others. We needed something just funny and goofy tonight (no big morals or anything) and we were pleasantly surprised with "Home on the Range". Mooo.

It reminded me of a feature-length Warner Brothers cartoon...the drawings were like the characters in the old Bugs Bunny/Daffy Duck toons.

That aside, I liked it. I'm so sick of every kids movie one-upping each other. This is a nice, simple toon movie for those of us who aren't amused by the booger-eating, cute-demon-looking monster types. Give me a bovine western anytime.
