A 90s movie in 2003!
The script and cgi is so 90s. It should have come out in 95.
shareI said the same thing to myself when I saw the trailer back in '03.
I think that's why the movie bombed because movie goers grew out of the genre. The Pearl Harbor movie in 2001 sorta capped off this style of filmmaking, and although that film had modest success, it closed the chapter on "control room/team work heroics" action movies. The new action hero movies moved back into individual superheros like Spiderman, Batman, and Jason Bourne.
That’s a good explanation.
shareI think the 'team work heroics' thing has bled into the Avengers movies and the Mission: Impossible movies.
shareI liked Stanley Tucci's character in this, not much else though and I like goodbad film's as much as anybody.
shareI like this take.
shareWatching the space shuttle emergency landing and the Rome coliseum being destroyed looked like the special effects from Ghostbusters. It was absolutely horrible.
shareI've tried to watch this movie three times just because I like disaster films, but every single time I fail and can't make it to the end.
This movie sucks. Better to just go and rewatch Twister or Dante's Peak again. Or even The Day After Tomorrow.
Part of this was filmed in my city Victoria Canada.
It's in this scene set in London. The scene where the red double decker crashes is actually the main four corners of our downtown centre. It was a big deal... I think they closed the intersection for four days or so for the few seconds that appear in the movie.
