This is scientifically incorrect (SPOILERS)

Every child knows that in giant caves like that one they were stranded for a while, they are almost-blind creatures who eat men. But in this movie?! None, nothing, they were just alone with some cristalls... That is not science, this is fairytale.

Dude! Weren't you watching?!!!

The Core stalled and threw off the magnetic balance of the planet. The near-blind inner-Earthers were scrambling to the surface of the planet through their vast network of caves in order to see if the race of man had been destroyed so they could once again return to the surface to live permanently.

It was only by our heroes' sacrifice and ingenuity that they were able to jump-start the core, re-establishing the magnetic field and thereby caused confusion to the Inner-Earthers who then returned to their underground lives, patiently awaiting the day when mankind destroys themselves, releases their stranglehold on the planet's surface so they can once again return to the sunlight and green lush grasses to live out the rest of their days in peace and brotherhood.

My #3 key is broken so I'm putting one here so I can cut & paste with it.

Oh men...I like this, please continue...

Isn't the core of the planet hollow and populated by an alien race who live in an inverted version of the surface?

reply

Not an alien race, but Nazis who escaped at the end of the war to once again bring glory to the Third Reich. The problem is that they never made it to the core. They made it as far as the crystal geode chamber and have been working on all sorts of new-age crystal mysticism in order to accelerate the One-World Order.

If you look closely in the background in that one scene in the crystal geode chamber you can clearly see the swastika in one of the reflections.

This was going to be a major plot point in the sequel "The Core 2: The Planet is Burping Nazis". Unfortunately, the box office for this film was too dismal to warrant the sequel.
I hear it's moving forward as an independent direct-to-video film retitled "My Crystal Hitler- My Crystal Love" with Jake Busey and Jessica Alba, due out in September.

Science is always BEST GUESS, and that is actually stated in the movie.

The very idea that a few nuclear bombs could restart our Earth's core is beyond preposterous. It's completely absurd.
