One question...the character John Carpenter, isn't Halloween director. is it?

No, he was the leech that followed Bob Crane around ... I thought it was him also, the director of HALLOWEEN, I mean.

Nah, some of the movies this John Carpenter directed were far scarier than anything that other John Carpenter did.

At the end of Auto Focus, during Kinnear's narration he says that Carpy(John Carpenter) died of a heart attack 4 years after they aquitted him of Crane's murder.

Also I think if it was the 'Halloween' Carpenter, Bob Crane would have been begging him for a part in one of his movies.
