Great performances and surprising story

Is there any doubt that Willam DeFoe is one of the greatest character actors alive? I love the guy. Kinnear is GREAT as well. However, I have to admit that I was surprised by the way Bob Crane was presented. I have to admit that I thought he was a horrible person and snuff film maker before seeing this film. However, he was really a decent guy that just happened to be a compulsive sex addict. Very sad in that regard and odd. Truth is stranger than fiction, always.

No doubt, Willen Dafoe is amazing! Every role he takes, makes it so real!

And, yes, Bob Crane was not really a bad guy. He had the chance to live out his life in a manner that many men of that age would have given a right arm for, to bed as many attractive women as he wanted, as he was well recognized in his heyday.

I very much agree. The 2 lead performances were great, but I noticed someone that not a lot of people have mentioned on this board. Kurt Fuller's acting of Colonel Klink was just brilliant. Granted Fuller was way taller and athletic than Werner Klemperer, but he really nailed all the parts he was given in the film and gave us a truly authentic portrayal.

It was like Colonel Klink had been resurrected, a sort of vibe that I didn't get from Kinnear when he played Hogan on the show.

I just watched it again, you are so right!
Kurt Fuller as Colonel Klink is a masterpiece.
It's just like watching the great Werner Klemperer all over again!
