'Here's your drink, keyholder'

Towards the end of the movie Carpenter (Dafoe) brings Crane a drink and says in a really creepy way "Here's your drink, keyholder." Anyone know what this means or what he is referring to?

reply

It's what a Playboy bunny would say to a guest at the old Playboy clubs-- a member was referred to as a "keyholder" and had an actual Playboy "key."

Also, it's interesting that Carpenter's "Bunny dip" near the end of the film mirrors the one done by the first woman Bob commits adultery with toward the beginning. It's like the bunny dip serves as a bracketing device for his years as a womanizer.

Dafoe such an excellent actor, his face in this film, he looks crazy!
When Bob is 'breaking up' with him, look at his eyes, so black!
Excellent cast in this film!

I love these kinds of references.
